We’ve been meaning to write about Britain’s Got Talent for a while, but couldn’t quite get past the fact that we get a collective *shudder* every time we think of Amanda Holden.
Once upon a time she was an ordinary-looking woman, famous for once being on Blind Date, and for marrying chicken-lover Les Dennis.
Now she has reincarnated herself as a slightly scary, younger looking Joan Rivers, and we can only look at her under qualified supervision.
But anyway, we haven’t been avid watchers or fans of BGT.
We’re possibly the only people who fall into that category.
Our problem with it is that the format is neither original nor new.
Remember New Faces, with Marti Caine?
It’s like that.
One difference is that Marti (RIP) was an engaging host – unlike Ant or Dec. And as for Simon Cowell… Time for another *shudder*.
The warning New Faces sends us is that some acts on these TV talent shows end up getting TV work for ages after their talent has run dry.
Hello, Lenny Henry.
